Two Lord of the Rings Fan Films PDF Print E-mail

If you've been eagerly watching for news of the two Hobbit films being produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Guillermo del Toro, you should be aware of two fan films being produced.

Born of Hope promises a one hour story about the parents of ranger-become-king Aragon - Arathorn and Gilraen - who are Dúnedain of the North. If you spelunk through the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, you'll find out what happens to these two, though there is not a lot of information there. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but their absence during The Lord of the Rings film doesn't bode well for their long term survival.

The Hunt for Gollum picks up the story of Aragon as he pursues Gollum and learns about the threat of the Ring. The release date listed is May 3, 2009. The director Chris Bouchard was previously involved in the sound direction of Star Wars: Revelations, another fan film.

Both films are collaborating with each other, sharing resources, materials, costumes and more. Both films will also be available free on the internet.
